Welcome to Beatty Elementary School!

School Programs

The programs at Beatty Elementary are designed to enhance our students' educational experiences by expanding on core curriculum concepts.

Great American Program

Fifth grade students at Beatty Elementary are encouraged to participate in "The Great American" Award Program. This program wsa designed by a teacher at Mitchell Elementary in Boulder City, NV, in 1987 and is closely correlated to the fifth grade social studies curriculum.

The Great American award is given to all fifth grade students who successfully complete the following requirements:

1. Recite the Gettysburg Address (3 helps).

2. Recite the names of the 43 presidents in order (3 helps, initials only).

3. Recite the states and capitals in alphabetical order (2 helps).

4. Recite or sing the National Anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner".

5. Recite the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States (no helps).

6. Write the Pledge of Allegiance (in cursive with no spelling or punctuation errors).

Students have from October until May to complete all of the requirements. There is no set order for the requirements or the number of tries to complete each item. Students who earn the Great American Award are honored at their graduation program.

Geography BeeGeography Bee

Each year, the fifth grade students compete in the National Geographic Society Geography Bee. The winner of our school competition goes on to represent Beatty at the Nevada Geography Bee. The winner of that competition and their teacher receive an all expense paid trip to Washington D.C. and compete in the nationally televised finals.

Science FairScience Fair

In January and February, students from all grades participate in the annual Beatty Elementary Science Fair.  While the Science Fair is open to all grade levels, fifth grade students are required to submit an entry.

After School ActivitiesAfter School Activities

Throughout the year, several clubs and organizations come to our campus for extra curricular activities. Some of the after school programs we endorse include 4H Club, Sign Design (American Sign Language), Academic Chess, and Mad Science. Many of our students also belong to Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops.
